- I started this blog because the Bush/Cheney years scared me more than I thought anything could. I realized last summer that my life is certainly more than half over. Now when an awareness thunders into my head I have an outlet where I can share it, just like the little girl who blurted out that the Emperor's supposed outfit was actually missing. I choose to write under the name Bronwyn Vermont for a few reasons. First my given name has never sounded like me. A friend gave me the pseudonym "Bronwyn" recently when she interviewed me for a paper and I found that I liked it. I use "Vermont" because it has been my chosen home for almost a quarter century, where my belief in the values of care and community have been nurtured and grown stronger.
